Peculiarities
ToV is a slow real-time / turn-based hybrid game, where turns (called ticks) end automatically. A typical game (called a campaign) takes a week or longer.
ATWAR (Advance Tick When All Ready) mode allows to advance ticks faster, making possible to play the whole campaign in one evening.
Rule-based diplomacy:
Defense pacts with defensive wars auto-join
Alliances with shared scan range
Inter-bloc diplomacy (joins, expulsions, war declarations, peace proposals) resolved by vote
Suzerainties with tributes and, well... vassals!
Campaign event notifications are sent to your mobile device (currently Android only), so you don’t need to check the game constantly or keep it running in the background.
No cheating – each client receives only the information it’s allowed to see.
Co-participation info shows which players in your campaign have played (or are playing) other campaigns together – helps detect multi-boxers.
Local tick control lets you review past ticks and preview future (predicted) ones – useful for analysis and planning.
